If you have any ideas they would be much appreciated. However, when I write things in math mode now I am left with text that is blue and italicized and does not change. Also, I'm not sure what this indicates, but in the past when I would write something in math mode and then start writing something else the math text would be blue and italicized for a moment and then change color and look as it is in a PDF file. Many of the dropdown menus are in gray or don't display options. When I try to fiddle with settings I am given very few options. When I type in the command to see a PDF preview I get an error message: "An error occurred while running: latex2rtf." Earlier yesterday (before installing BasicTex and reinstalling Lyx) I would simply get the command disabled message, which also confused me because I had checked my settings with respect to the commands and it all should have been working fine. What's worse is that I can't view any PDFs. When I go into settings there are no virtually no document classes available to select. This confuses me because I assumed this would come with MacTex (and BasicTex). Im new to LaTeX and having trouble with the pdf viewer. This distribution is already installed on campus computers just open up TeXWorks. It says I need to download the prerequisite article.cls. View LatexPrimer.pdf from MATH 4332 at Westmoor High. Lyx says the selected document class requires files that are unavailable. So here are the problems: I cannot save files. I have not encountered any problems with normal Latex editors (e.g.TeXedit). I uninstalled the MacTex stuff I had on my computer, and installed BasicTex and reinstalled Lyx. I downloaded MacTex and then Lyx (2.1.2) and was running into problems (detailed below). I recently got a new laptop (Mac OSX 10.9.4). pdfx now accesses the default RGB and CMYK profiles using the new colorprofiles package in particular using a file called colorprofiles.tex (as well as colorprofiles.sty ). 3) Fill in the required fields with the paths discovered in the previous step. 2) In the window that appears, locate the Extensions tab. Add the path for pdflatex.exe in Edit, prefreferences, Path settings. 1) Open your VS Code and go to the Commands tab (Cmd + Shift + P generally), and open the settings by typing Preference: Open Settings. Downloading MikTeX from here and installing it solved the issue. I have been a Lyx user for a few years but I'm not particularly computer savvy, so I'm sorry if these questions seem naive. Like many casual users, I never interact with anything other than TeXworks, so after a system restore, that was the name I remembered and the only thing I installed.
